May 06, 2013 How to redirect Serial Ports in Windows Server 2012. Now the Remote Desktop Client will redirect. We’d like to be able to pass through the com port.
We recently decided that we needed to set up a VPN between two sites and run our POS software over the VPN. Even though both ends have a fast connection, the POS software still runs to slow to be useful. So what I want to try is using remote desktop from the remote location and remote into one of our servers, and then map the com ports so that it will still use the receipt printer at the remote location through remote desktops.
My questions is how do I do that. Here is what I have tried allready. I have went to the Group policy and enabled that capability. I also check the box that says serial port when i set up the connection in Remote Desktop. I have also tried using the follow command when I am remoted into the server; 'net use com1: tsclient com1:' but still no luck. Does anyone know how to set that up, Please help?
Jingle Bell Rock Midi. Lm Flash Programmer there. Ok, here is the solution. You need to use a combination of the 'net use' command the 'change port' command. First run the 'change port /q' for a list of all currently configured com ports & LTP ports. Wintab Digitizer Software For Autocad here.
Then for example if you want to map com1 on the remote computer to com2 on local computer you need to remove com1 on the remote computer first. Do this by entering 'change port /d com1'.
Then run the 'change port /q' command to confirm that com1 does not show. Then you can run the command 'net use com1: tsclient com2:' which will use the local computer's com2 drive as com1 on the remote computer. After you have run that command you can use the 'change port /q' command to confirm that com1 shows up as tslicent's com2 port. NOTE: Also, if you set this up on one computer and then you log off and try to set this up on another computer, you will get errors abour the com port being remembered even though it does not show up under 'change port /q', you can solve this problem by typing in net use /delete com1.
